The Best Pot Party in California

Rolling Stone called it the "Best Pot Party in California".

Malibu Essential Oils provided the guests with a deeper understanding of their sense of SMELL. Here's how I remember it... It's a windy drive on an impossibly beautiful day up, up, up to the Malibu mountaintop location for Immersion513. A conscious cannabis collaboration event by the super women behind Higher Beauty, Sasha Perelman, now with Revolver Events, and Anya Matusevich, as well as Katie Partlow of Little Face Events.

I'm nervous as my hubby and partner in Malibu Essential Oils, Earl Martin confidently drives us up a familiar Malibu canyon. There's going to be a lot of media, I heard, including Rolling Stone Magazine. I reach into my MEO Mentor's Kit, with 60 vials of my favorite essential oils and blends and I go straight for my 1ml of doTERRA Hawaiian Sandalwood. It's deep, woodsy musk tinged with tropical fruit notes always grounds me and takes me back to Kauai. A single tap in my palm leaves a tiny round 1/4 of a drop. Sandalwood is thick, so it stay perfectly round until I rub it in my palms. I cup my hands over my nose and inhale hungrily. It's beauty calms me over several breaths. I reach for the next oil, Cassia. MEO Mentor Elaine Hartline was the one who told me that this was "stage fright oil." I don't alway like the smell of it, but in this moment, its funky, spicy tones smell sweet to me. Trust my nose, I rarely have stage fright, so I usually don't need it. But today I do. The far below Pacific Ocean view doesn't hurt either. As we pull through the long, unpaved driveway, I whip out the old standby, High on Life to give me that mental and emotional sparkle I have come to rely on. It's all new people except for the two hosts, and I get nervous when meeting new people sometimes, but now I'm ready to mingle. It's still set up time and Earl and I get to chat with like-minded individuals, fellow plant medicine lovers. Cannabis is, after all, just another plant that fortifies our bodies, creating an environment for healing. What a friggin' delight it is to stuff our offering of our custom blend, HIGH ON LIFE, in with these CBD and THC laden gifts. Medicine Box Truffles, Papa and Barkley Releaf Balms, treats, joints, vapes, flower of the highest order, created by the tweakiest growers and artisans Essential oils pair so well with cannabis, and that is what I'm there to let people know. The theme is IMMERSION: A 5 Sense Experience. We are representing, duh, SMELL. The guests begin to arrive at 5pm via Uber and Lyft and they are filled with wonder. Remember wonder? Yeah, not easy to come by anymore, so this is a good day for all of us. And they haven't even taken a hit yet. Then the 6'6" beaded gowned Jared Sparkle gives the introductions and the gist. The guests have been assigned a COLOR in their goodie bags. That color is their TRIBE. They will be moving through 5 sense experiences with their tribe led by a fucking slamming hot Love Warrior, wearing the fucking slamming hot Choose Love line. Our first group enters our small bedroom off the enormous main room. Each carries a bulging muslin bag. We are each other's first foray into Immersion. I've always preferred to be a part of the circus rather than audience, but I envied their trek into the unknown.

"Everyone sit facing out on the bed." They do.

"Now don your blindfolds and we will take you on a flight of oils and weed." They fish panda eye covers out of their bags, put them on and away we go. The first blend I share with them is MOJO, a blend I originally crafted for a woman going through a nasty break-up. She needed her MOJO back. Fresh, light and intriguing it is a blend of Ginger (Empowerment), Lime (Zest for Life), Bergamot (Self-Love), Clary Sage (energy clearing and intuition) and Juniper Berry (dispels fears and nightmares.) Then with a nudge to Justin Corley of Lowell Smokes, he passes around a big sack of high quality cannibas for people to stick their head in for a deep whiff. Pure plant matter activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the rest and digest mode of the nervous system, I explain.

Next we do another hand diffusion with HIGH ON LIFE, this one has more bite with its stunning Peppermint (Buoyant Heart) top note, bright Wild Orange (Cheer and abundance), and finally the spicy, woodsy jewel that is Frankincense (Oil of Truth). This one clears their sinuses, awakens and grounds them. "Pure, therapeutic grade essential oils are loaded with natural sesquiterpenes, one of the only molecules able to cross the blood-brain barrier, and a natural reset for the brain." Justin adds some fascinating facts about cannabis terpenes, a new buzz word in the industry. The participants crush an aged bud from Lowell Farms in their hands, releasing the essential oils and terpenes from the flower. They add that to their hand diffusion and experience the dance between cannabis and its oil superfriends. "Remember to use your nose to choose your oils and choose your weed. It knows." Finally, we distribute DOUBLE MINT BLAST, our edible Bong Blend. For this one we suggest a deep inhalation through the lungs through cupped hands. The flavors of Peppermint, Spearmint and Frankincense sail over the tongue and refresh the respiratory system. We delight in the smiles as people feel it's cooling effects and allow their lungs to expand. For the enthusiastic, I offer one dash on their tongue. Like baby birds they receive the lights on elixir. "Now that your lungs are prepped, go smoke a joint!"

Finally, they remove their blindfolds to receive the gift of a hand-rolled beauty from my pot growing pro, now friend, Justin Corley with blends crafted by cannababe Katie Partlow of Little Face Events. " Indica, Sativa or Hybrid?"

Out the door go our giddy participants, ready to experience a puff in their expanded and refreshed lungs. On to TOUCH in their journey to caress all 5 senses with weed while we prep to repeat the experience for 4 more groups. By the end the word had gotten out and we were standing room only. We were so honored to be a part of this elegant, conscious, educational and fun and connection focused event #Immersion513.
